21) My Character

January 16, 2020

The other night we saw a “Star Trek: Next Generation”, Season 1, Episode 12, “The Big Goodbye”.  It had Picard and Data and Beverly enter the holodeck to play in an old Dashiell Hammett book, Picard as a detective in 1941 San Francisco.  Of course there were computer generated supporting characters, the bad guys and the good cop.

All good so far, but the holodeck controls were damaged and they couldn’t freeze or stop the game or  even get out.  Their command “Computer, Exit” didn’t work.  Things got a little too real and Picard eventually told the characters that they were on a space ship and that they were not actually alive.

Then the controls got fixed and the door opened.  The 2 bad guys decided to leave and check out the halls, but of course dissolved as soon as they left.  Before Picard left, he went over and shook the hand of the good cop, who worriedly asked “When you leave, am I going to go home to my wife and kid?”

So metashifting, I ask “Suppose I am just a character in someone else’s game.”  I could be.  It seems I am being manipulated by higher consciousness beings.  How do I know whether my life is my own or whether I am just a pawn?  Leaving aside my metaphysical belief system for the time being, I would like to ask some questions.

What are the rules?

How should I behave?

Is there a way to enhance my preservation?

Are there any magic words?  Commands?  Thoughts?

Who should I believe?

What is my place in all this?

What is the point?

Is there any meaning?

Is there a destination?

It gets a little confusing, which actions belong to whom.  So let’s bring in metaphysics to untie the knots.

Meaning?  We are players in a magnificent drama to help the source consciousness (SC) to discover who it is.  In order to do that we need to accumulate human experiences through the living of lots of lifetimes.

There is a Tao (path) for each lifetime, which if followed, leads to a life of harmony and fulfillment.  But the SC needs for each individual to show their love for their Tao by allowing free will (or free won’t).  If the Tao is not followed, karma results and this must be balanced out at some point.

Conclusion:  we should lead our lives naturally without creating karma.

It is not necessary to see this bigger picture and most people do not, and it doesn’t matter.  However decisions and results do get easier when the “behind the scenes” realization occurs, not just realization, but also acceptance.

But my problem is how to tell the difference between a free-won’t and a planted idea---this is the natural result of me thinking too much.

And the magic command?  Asking higher beings for help seems to be the order of the day.  But beware of the lower astral beings who will lead a person down the negative path where karma is created.

Will I be going home to my wife?  I hope so.
